About Us

Welcome to Decolonize Your Bookshelves. This project started out of a realization I had. All the books I was reading were from white authors. Growing up in latin america, I knew there were great authors out there that were not white. I wanted to find them and share them with the world. I wanted to make it easier for others to find these great authors and their masterpieces. This is not to say that we should not enjoy the works of white authors, but, that we should widen our selection. If we expand our literary taste we could be surprised at the wondrous worlds that are out there to be discovered, enjoyed, and loved.

This website is not a comprehensive list, or a top ten list, or a ratings aggregator. The goal is to provide you, the reader, with a basic idea of what the book is about, the authors background and the means to buy the book. We leave it to you to decide whether you want to read the book or not. There are plenty of other places to find ratings, like Goodreads and Fable. We are here to pique your curiosity and awareness.
